Gig Review: All Time Low, Future Hearts Tour, London, February 2016

You've got me poppin' champagne!

That's actually a lie cause champagne is expensive but we did pop a bottle of wine, however the lyrics 'you've got me poppin' rosé' don't exactly have had the same effect. As you might have been able to tell by the title this post is going to be about the All Time Low show I attended at the O2 Arena on Thursday (11th Feb) which was the second stop on their UK Back To The Future Hearts Tour. The support acts for this tour were Against the Current and Good Charlotte, yes you heard correct GOOD CHARLOTTE, like was I more excited to see ATL or GC? idk.

I wasn't actually going to head in to London until around 2pm however I woke to a text from the All Time Low Queen herself, earthtounicorns, who had changed her mind and wanted to get the venue earlier, so I got ready super quick and headed to the station, I met Vanessa on the tube at Euston around midday and we headed to the venue to meet up with Aisling and her friends, we sat and chilled out in the queue for a while, devoured some Five Guys and a tipple or two of an alcoholic beverage of some type. Then the security did that annoying thing were they make everyone stand up and squash together hours before the doors even opened, they then took our tickets away from us (like excuse me what am I going to put in my scrapbook now) and gave us wristbands in exchange for them. We then got shuffled through like cattle and we headed into the main arena. We found a comfortable spot a couple rows from the front on Zack's side and waited for the main event to begin.

Against the Current were the first support to perform, who played an energetic 30 minute set to an arena where at least 90% of the people didn't know who they were, except the guy next to us who knew all the words and was having the time of his life watching Chrissy Constanza strut her stuff on stage, however they played their socks off and people were getting behind them, especially when they played their pop/punk cover of Uptown Funk.
In between the sets, they played a playlist that was literally stolen from my spotify, I am genuinely thinking of suing them, and yes we were the people that everyone hated for singing along and having fun.

As soon as the backing curtain dropped to show the Good Charlotte logo the excitement in the arena just lifted, for the majority of people this was their first time seeing GC play live, including me, as they haven't played in the UK for six years so everyone was ready to loose their minds. They started their set with Anthem and the whole arena sang and jumped alongs. During their eleven song set they mentioned several times how excited they were to finally be playing in the UK again after so long, and about their new record that's coming out in the summer and how they'll be back in the UK in the fall to tour, Joel also got us to make a video message for his father in law, Lionel Richie, and they also turned the entire O2 Arena in to a traditional pop punk show with a mosh pit to finish off their set. They played a mixture of their stuff of their multiple albums as well as their latest single Makeshift Love. I was sad when they played their final song of the night, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, however I was then fully buzzed to watch All Time Low grace the stage.

During the set turn around we enjoyed a slight perv over the hot tour crew, and had a slight moan over how little water they were putting in the cups they were handing out. But then the lights dropped and the screens came to life and the first few cords of Kids In The Dark started playing and everything was forgotten. Joel Madden joined them on stage for Bail Me Out, which I assumed was going to happen as soon as GC were announced as a support but I was still as excited as the people who didn't know. Therapy followed by Alex's speech before delving into Missing You was an emotional segment. Each night on this tour they are playing one song off 'Put Up or Shut Up' which they don't play very often however in London it was Coffee Shop Soundtrack which was a slight disappointment to some as that is the song they pay the most out of the tracks of the EP. They left the stage after Old Scars/Future Hearts before coming back on for a three song encore composed of Weightless, Something's Gotta Give and Dear Maria, after the set they did a band bow and then starting throwing things in to the crowd, including a water bottle from Alex G which filled my ear and bra with freezing cold water so thanks for that, and caused a few injuries to a the people around us who were determined to take home one of Rian's drumsticks. We then shuffled back out of the arena, queued to buy some water to rehydrate our bodies and then headed to the tune to head home.

Basically I'm still crap at writing concert reviews so sorry, but I had a blast and I hope everyone else that was at the show and the people that are seeing them on their upcoming shows also have a blast.
