The beginning of a new year mean a fresh start in terms of yearly goals and new year resolutions as well as a good time to look back on the past year. Every year since starting this blog I have taken the time to write down a list of personal goals for the year ahead so I feel like now is the right time to look back on my list from last year as well as putting together a new list for 2018.
For reference you can view my 2017 Goals post here.
In short my 2017 goals were;
- Eat less meat
- Drink less fizzy Drinks and more water
- Spend more time with friends
- Go to California
- Write more
- Learn something new.
Now to break it down,
Goal 1 - Eat less meat. I definitely feel like I did this, no I didn't manage to cut meat from my diet completely, this is still an ongoing goal but I did cut down a lot, when meals are down to myself and someone isn't cooking for me it was a lot easier to go for a vegetarian option than I thought.
Goal 2 - Drink less fizzy drinks and more water. This is actually my current New Years resolution, I have given myself a limit of no more than one fizzy drink a week which I will hopefully be able to cut that down to none at all once we have cleared out our christmas stock.
Goal 3 - Spend more time with friends. I would say I spent a healthy amount of time with my friends this year, whether that be attending gigs together, going to America with Aimee or Vanessa spending Christmas at my house. I definitely appreciated the time I got to spend with my friends. Living in different parts of the country to them definitely makes it hard to spend as much time with them as I would like and I do need to learn to reach out to my friends more with texts and calls but I still have some kind of weird anxiety hovering over me and I feel like I don't know what to say or that I'm annoying them, so friends please accept this public apology of my terrible connection skills, I love you and I promise to text more often.
Goal 4 - Go to California. I mean if you follow me on any social media platform or you've read any post before this you should know that yes I made it to California and I've missed it ever since.
Goal 5 - Write more. In 2017 I published 12 posts, which in theory is one a month but in reality about 6 of them were posted in the last couple months of the year. I love writing and I really hope at least one person enjoys reading my posts, heres hoping I can stick to some sort of blogging schedule this year and my posts become more regular.
Goal 6 - Learn something new. What's the point in living if you aren't learning new things? At the beginning of 2017 I gave myself a goal to learn something new, and in the past year the two 'talents' I think I've gained are: watercolour painting and currently being33% fluent in Spanish thanks to Duolingo.
I feel for 2018 all my goals are the same as last year, except going to California which I'm not against doing again if the opportunity arises, even though I feel like I met the majority of my goals I would like to work towards them more until they become things I just do without even thinking about if that makes any sense. If you have any goals you are working towards please let me know I's love to know what other people are aiming for this year.
