Travel Series: What's in my cabin bag?

Since I love travelling and I also depart for the US on Monday, I've decided I'm going to try and start a travel blog series. This all started when I became obsessed with watching travel vlogs on youtube and now I've even started writing TripAdvisor reviews. I really want to make a Vlog or two when I'm in Miami so fingers crossed I actually do that.

I'm going to start off with something nice and simple, so here's my 'What's in my Cabin Bag' post!

I have watched so many 'what's in my cabin bag' videos even though I've already had mine packed for two weeks and I don't fly until next week, but since I'm so prepared and I love watching these type of blogs I hope you enjoy this one.

First things first is make sure you have the stuff in your cabin bag that you don't want to get lost and some necessities just incase your checked-bag goes walkies. We tend to fly with British Airways when we fly long haul and they're quite generous with their luggage allowance, as well as be able to have a 23kg checked bag, you also get a 23kg cabin bag and what they call a 'personal bag' which can be a handbag, laptop bag, small backpack etc, so of course I utilise that allowance.

For my overhead cabin bag I have a little four wheeled suitcase that has two sections on the inside, one that is covered with a zipped mesh and one that has one of those straps you join in the middle, I am brilliant at descriptions I know. Since we are staying at a hotel the night before we fly I have packed the clothes I need in this bag; pyjamas, spare underwear and a set of clothes for the plane. These also act as emergency clothes for my arrival destination just in case my luggage gets lost or delayed, but fingers crossed that doesn't happen. I also have in this bag a pair of cosy socks for the flight so I can take my shoes off and still have warm and cosy feet, a hat for when I arrive so I don't automatically get heat stroke, the hat I've packed is my Peachy hat from Brandy Melville that I recently featured in my Summer Favourites post. I also have a small makeup style bag that I'm using to store my cables, polaroid film and my main camera. The use of a small bag makes it so much easier to find what you're looking for, rather than having to rummage around the whole bag to find one cable. Also inside this bag is all the documents I need for my trip including any excursion vouchers and transfer details. Last thing I have is my travel pillow but I will be removing this just as I get on the plane.

Anything you want to have easy access to when you are in the air you want to put in your personal bag, yes you can access your overhead cabin bag during the flight but it can be quite a pain for you and the people sat around you. I'm using Primark's version of a Longchamp tote. Below is a list of all the items that will be inside.
- Small adult colouring book with coloured pencils
- Travel journal with pen
- Polaroid Camera and a spare pack of film
- Portable charger and phone wire
- Sunglasses
- A small toiletry bag with toothbrush and toothpaste, hand sanitiser, lip balm, tissues, chewing gum, makeup wipes, cc cream and concealer, a travel mascara, a beauty blender and a mirror.
- A sleep eye mask
- My laptop (fully charged the night before, with the charger in the overhead bag)
- Book (the one I'm taking is 'The Sky is Everywhere' by Jandy Nelson

Inside this bag I will be putting my Michael Kors Jet set cross-body bag which inside will have all my important items: passport, purse, phone,  headphones, all the things I will need access to when inside the airport and want to pull out quickly.

That's pretty much everything I think you need in your cabin luggage, if you have any travel tips or essentials feel free to share them below in the comments.

Thanks for reading!
