Since British Summer lasts approximately 35 minutes I though I better write a quick Summer Top Ten. This year for me feels like I've had an extended summer, with spending some time in Spain at the beginning of June and actually going on a real summer holiday this year at the end of August with my impending trip to Miami, now is the perfect time for me to comment on 'summer' related things since I'm actually going to have one.
1) I always thought I wasn't a hat person but since I didn't want to die of heatstroke I went and brought this summer cute baseball cap from Brandy Melville and I love it! It's just a simple navy hat with the word peachy sewed on the front in pink thread. I brought it from the Brandy Melville section in the Oxford Street Topshop because amazingly it was cheaper there in the concession stands that in was in an actual Brandy Melville store.
3) Banana Ice Cream. My mum came home from work the other week with this super easy recipe for banana ice cream, I love ice cream in warm weather but homemade ice cream I love even more. All you need are some bananas, a freezer and some kind of food blender/processor.
*Banana Ice Cream Recipe*
- Peel and slice bananas and place in to a bag or pot
- Place in the freezer until frozen, this usually takes somewhere between 12 and 24 hours.
- Take out however many chunks you think you'll need to make the portion size you want
- Leave to defrost a little (I usually leave them for about 15 minutes.)
- Place in a food blender/processor and mush until you get the consistency you want. I use a nutribullet and blend for about 3 minutes.
- Serve (with homemade banana bread as this tastes like a dream)
4) CC Cream. I'm one of those people that needs to wear foundation to get a good coverage and feel good enough to go out but for this summer I really wanted to find something lighter that still gave me good coverage and sun protection. A couple of my friends rave about BB cream, so I went and brought some and yes it was good but I still felt like I needed to cover half my face with concealer which was sort of against the point, so when I was in boots stocking up on my foundation I found CC cream and thought I might as well try it out, and man do I wish I'd used my 3 for 2 product on another bottle. The one I use is the Bourjois 123 Perfect Colour Correcting Cream. I wore it when I went to the 5SOS show in Barcelona, and since we spent the majority of the day walking and sitting outside in the Spanish sun and then was in a super hot arena for hours and i only sweated it off half way through the actual show (and I wasn't wearing and setting spray) I think it's amazing.
6) Yes, it may be too hot to sleep with a duvet on at the moment but that hasn't stopped me buying all of the ones in Primark's Home section (seriously though how many times do I advertise Primark in my blogs, they genuinely should send me gift card) They have some really lovely summer ones in at the moment and you should really check them out.
7) What a surprise, another Primark product! I brought this Goji Berry and Ginger candle a fair few months back, it was only £3 and it smells absolutely amazing plus the pot is cute. I ended up buying Aimee one for her birthday because I loved it so much and she featured it in her June Favourites post, which you can read here.
8) J20 Flamingo Fling, this drink is seriously nice. I love lychees and since this drink is lychee and white grape flavour, of course I'm gonna have to feature it here.
9) As you may or may not know I love painted nails and my summer colour of choice is Orange, the one I've been using is Rimmel's Summer Orange.
10) Last but not least my number 10 Summer Fav, and also all round general fav, is Polaroids. I love taking photographs and polaroid pictures are just so cute. I used to go and buy the fancy patterned films but I recently found these stickers that you place over plain films and it's saving me so much money and I can match the frames to the pictures now.
